A decomposition approach for solving a broadcast domination network design problem

چکیده
We consider an optimization problem that integrates network design and broadcast domination decisions. Given an undirected graph, a feasible broadcast domination is a set of nonnegative integer powers fi assigned to each node i, such that for any node j in the graph, there exists some node k having a positive fk-value whose shortest distance to node j is no more than fk. The cost of a broadcast domination solution is the sum of all node power values. The network design problem constructs edges that decrease the minimum broadcast domination cost on the graph. The overall problem we consider minimizes the sum of edge construction costs and broadcast domination costs. We show that this problem is NP-hard in the strong sense, even on unweighted graphs. We then propose a decomposition strategy, which iteratively adds valid inequalities based on optimal broadcast domination solutions corresponding to the first-stage network design solutions. We demonstrate that our decomposition approach is computationally far superior to the solution of a single largescale mixed-integer programming formulation.

Benders Decomposition Algorithm for Competitive Supply Chain Network Design under Risk of Disruption and Uncertainty
In this paper, bi-level programming is proposed for designing a competitive supply chain network. A two-stage stochastic programming approach has been developed for a multi-product supply chain comprising a capacitated supplier, several distribution centers, retailers and some resellers in the market. The proposed model considers demand’s uncertainty and disruption in distribution centers and t...
متن کاملA Benders\' Decomposition Based Solution Method for Solving User Equilibrium Problem: Deterministic and Stochastic Cases
The traffic assignment problem is one of the most important problems for analyzing and optimizing the transportation network to find optimal flows. This study presented a new formulation based on a generalized Benders' decomposition approach to solve its important part, i.e. user equilibrium problems, in deterministic and stochastic cases. The new approach decomposed the problem into a master p...

Supply Chain Network Design (SCND) is a strategic supply chain management problem that determines its configuration. This mainly focuses on the facilities location, capacity sizing, technology selection, supplier selection, transportation, allocation of production and distribution facilities to the market, and so on. Although the optimal solution of the SCND problem leads to a significant reduc...
متن کاملA Fast Strategy to Find Solution for Survivable Multicommodity Network
This paper proposes an immediately efficient method, based on Benders Decomposition (BD), for solving the survivable capacitated network design problem. This problem involves selecting a set of arcs for building a survivable network at a minimum cost and within a satisfied flow. The system is subject to failure and capacity restriction. To solve this problem, the BD was initially proposed with ...
متن کاملSolving a bi-objective location routing problem by a NSGA-II combined with clustering approach: application in waste collection problem
It is observed that the separated design of location for depots and routing for servicing customers often reach a suboptimal solution. So, solving location and routing problem simultaneously could achieve better results. In this paper, waste collection problem is considered with regard to economic and societal objective functions. A non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) is used to l...
